Gantha August, 22 Meeting
Literary group Gantha had its August Meeting on 20th. The meeting was on a discussion on Partition of India and Pakistan’s and the subsequent birth of Bangladesh. It is the 75th year of partition this year. The meeting began with remembrance of Bangabandhu Sheik Mujibur Rahman’s death anniversary which was on the 15th August. Gantha members observed a minute of silence in his and family members’ respect. Afroza Parveen said a few words observing the day.
Three members spoke on the occasion. Nur Quamrun Naher discussed a paper titled ছোট গল্পে দাঙ্গা ও দেশ বিভাগ। Afroza Parveen read and discussed Syed Waliullah’s story একটি তুলসী গাছের কাহিনী।Jackie Kabir discussed an article on division of India and Pakistan. Dr Niaz Zaman mentioned that Syed Walliullah has written another short story on partition titled The Escape which is in English. The stories are very different in theme and backgrounds.
Gantha held its August virtual meeting on the 20th at 6.00 p.m. as scheduled and it ended at 7.30 p.m. The meeting was conducted by Jackie Kabir.
There were three speakers.
The meeting concluded with a decision to hold the next meeting on 24thSeptember 2022. It was decided that writers on women’s’ project will be discussed in September. Niaz Zaman will talk about Halima Khatun, Marzia will talk about Shahnaz Munni and Nur Quamrun will discuss Mokbula Manzoor’s life and works.
